Call to order on September 14, 2010 at 19:00 GMT

David welcomed the participants and started presenting the meeting slides.

Approval of the Agenda

The agenda was approved unanimously.

Administrative Issues

  • Minutes from August 10 working group meeting
The minutes of the last meeting were not approved as nobody had read them. They will be approved at the next WG meeting.
  • Publicity
Ernst explained the DASC column in IEEE D&T magazine. The first contribution will reintroduce the column and introduce the DASC. WG chairs will have a possibility to contribute in later columns. The columns may appear up to 6 times per year. A contribution will be about 2 pages.
  • Review of IEEE patent policy
Ernst offered a review of the IEEE patent policy. Participants waived the review.
  • 1076.1.1 standard revision
MEC is planned to start before the end of the month. It could take up to 30 days. The balloting group is valid till December, so the ballot needs to start before that time.
  • 1076.1 standard revision
The ball is in the court of DASC and IEEE to get a resolution.

Project Status and Updates

VHPI-AMS (David Smith)

David got confirmation from Cadence that their contribution is ready to be reviewed by their attorneys. The contribution is expected to arrive within 2 months.

1076.1.1 Integration (David Smith)

Two main thrusts:

  • Actual integration of text into LRM. This will require work by Peter Ashenden.
  • Discussion about adding the concept of dimensions to VHDL-AMS. Related to this is the issue of inserting conversion models between ports of the same dimension but different units. Need to find home for this. A likely candidate is the Mixed netlist project.

Frequency Domain Modeling (Ernst Christen)

Status indicates that work is almost done.

Table-Driven Modeling (Joachim Haase)

David asked whether the packages implement subprograms to read data in the supported file formats. In his response Joachim described the architecture of TDM support and indicated that the main focus of the effort will be on using the table data in models. It may not be possible to read all file formats with VHDL subprograms, so the corresponding functionality will be outside the package.

Vector/Matrix Operations (Zhichao Deng)

Several comments:

  • Requirements for slices uses syntactic notation, but package definition may use functions where appropriate.
  • We should consider the question whether the package should be compatible with VHDL 2008 or whether language extensions are possible.
  • TDM may use some of the capabilities of this projects. This should be coordinated.
  • A strawman package is available in the project-specific protected area of the WG website. Zhichao placed it there after Davis Bishop had access issues.
Action item: David Smith to work with David Bishop to resolve issues.

Next meeting

Telco on October12, 2010.

AOB

None.

Adjourn

David adjourned the meeting at 20:00 GMT (12pm PDT).
