1. Call to order
David opened the meeting and started presenting the
meeting slides
2. Approval of agenda
The agenda was discussed and there were no changes.
3. Review plan and refine
The plan was reviewed and the consensus was that 2 months for the requirements analysis was insufficient and will be changed to 4 months with detailed requirements being complete and presented in 7 months including user/vendor follow-up.
4. Discuss Requirements analysis steps and solicit volunteers
A number of requirements were discussed:
- VHDL-2008 VHPI is based on VHDL 2002 language definition. We will base our VHPI on the VHPI in VHDL-2008 and only do the extensions for VHDL-AMS.
- We need to gather scope information from vendors and users. VHPI-AMS probably would have a better reception in Europe for example German VDA may have more interest in it than US industry.
- The earlier work on VHPI included a broad scope including simulation control. We need to define the scope we are willing to tackle.
- Experience from P1800 shows Language Change Specification and LRM are co-occurring activities. We may use do the same mode instead of integrating LCS into LRM later.
- We agreed thatwe needed to solicit donations from vendors that have VHPI implementations for VHDL-AMS.
- Better to arouse awareness/visibility of VHPI-AMS in users/customers by showing them working group’s planned coverage of VHPI-AMS. This will stimulate more interest rather than simply asking them what they want. Once we scope out requirements we may present the case of VHPI-AMS requirements at forum like FDL 2010 or at VDA FAT/AK-30.
The next step for committee members is to review the VHDL 1076-2008 VHPI specification as a starting point and the paper's posted on the web site (at
ProjectAlignment107608) covering earlier work by Martin Vlach.
We agreed that at the beginning monthly meetings and email discussions are sufficient, only to be more frequent later (as needed or when progress is made).
5. Next Meeting
Thursday May 20, 2010, 8am PDT
Action Items:
- Ernst - get a copy of 1076-2008 for use by the working group
- Ernst - contact Cadence (Francois Martinolle) to see if they have a VHPI definition for VHDL-AMS that they might consider donating
- David - send out information about where Martin's paper is posted (included in these minutes)
- David - develop scope and review before next meeting
- Peter - develop initial analysis of objects that need to be added to existing VHPI
6. AOB
7. Adjourn
Meeting was adjourned at 9am PDT.
