Ernst agreed to approve the Minutes of the January 10, 2011 meeting.

Joachim prepared a Proposal how to handle 2-dimensional interpolation in Table-Driven Modeling (pdf). The material was used a starting for further discussion on Data representation for multi-dimensional interpolation.

Characterization of interpolation and extrapolation methods

Joachim presented a proposal for types INTERPOLATION_METHOD and EXTRAPOLATION_METHOD that can be found in the meeting slides and Proposal on identifiers to characterize interpolation and extrapolation methods (pdf).

Ernst agreed to use the proposed identifiers for further activities.

Discussion on data representation for multi-dimensional interpolation

Ernst: Vector type of an unconstrained array is supported in the latest version of the IEEE 1076 Std. Unconstrained arrays can also be used to declare record types.

Ernst: Based on these possibilities an appropriate data structure should be declared that allows an recursive call of the interpolation functions.

The use model of the interpolation package should look as follows

  1. Functions are provided to transform the information on knots and the values at knots to a data structure prior to the first call of the associated interpolation function. Ordering of data will be done at this step for instance.
  2. Repeated call of the interpolation function using the data structure that supports an efficient determination of the function value.

It should be possible that the declaration of the type(s) for such a date structure can differ between the reference implementation and the implementation in tools.

Build-up of data for interpolation - discussion on TDM-R14 of the Reformulated requirement document

A reference implementation on the transformation of IBIS, Touchstone, Excel CSV, ... information to the data structures that are used for repeated calls of the interpolation functions should not be part of the proposal for the standard. Only the interface of such functions should be suggested. A detailed discussion on this item should be done later on.
