Call to order on August 16, 2010 at 8:10am PST (5pm CEST)

Zhichao welcomed the participants and started the meeting.

Approval for agenda

Agenda is unanimously approved.

Approval for last meeting minutes

Zhichao went through the meeting minutes and it is approved by every one.

Discuss requirements draft and solicit volunteers

Zhichao went through the updated requirements draft doc. Several issues are discussed:

1. Multi-dimension support for matrix won't be covered in this project until new use case shows the necessity.

2. Numerical accuracy issues related to matrix inversion or solving a linear matrix are discussed and David Bishop will continue to investigate them.

3. Non-floating point type of matrix is needed as Subramanian mentioned that he knew quite some usage related to that.

The undetermined items in the requirement doc are colored in yellow. They will be discussed in the next meeting.

Discuss use case examples related to requirements

Zhichao presented the use case example created by Ernst, since Ernst is on vocation. A number of points are discussed:

  • Block matrix notation will be determined later.
  • matrix construction is extended to support more general case than zero or identity matrix.

Next meeting

The next telco is planned on Sept. 20th, 2010 at 8:00am PDT or 5:00pm CEST.

  • Investigate numercial accuracy related issues for solving linear system/ matrix inversion
  • Investigate the use case for Kronecker product and Matrix norm
  • Investigate the use cases for the normal operation
