  • Ernst Christen (chair, meeting convener)
  • Zhichao Deng
  • Joachim Haase
  • Alain Vachoux (note taker)

  • Call to order
  • Approval of agenda
  • Administrative issues
  • Project status and updates
  • Next steps and next meetings

1. Call to order on July 13, 2010 at 8am PST

Ernst welcomed the participants and started presenting the meeting slides.

2. Approval of the Agenda

Motion from Alain, Joachim seconded. No objections and abstentions. Agenda approved.

3. Administrative Issues

  • Minutes from April 13 working group meeting
Motion to approve from Joachim, Zhichao seconded. No objections and abstentions. Minutes approved.
  • Publicity
Paper on current P1076.1 works planned for "Simulation News in Europe" journal. Prof. Breitenecker editor (Joachim's contact). Joachim to ask for format, template and deadline date. Interest to address a different audience (more control-oriented) than regular IEEE one.
  • Review of IEEE patent policy
Ernst offered a review of the IEEE patent policy. Participants waived the review.
  • 1076.1.1 standard revision
Balloting group formed and properly balanced. Some LRM editorial changes may be required to address latest IEEE standard documentation format and new guidelines. Ernst contacted Peter Ashenden. Ernst is considering doing the editorial changes.
  • 1076.1 standard revision
PAR to be now approved by WG, DASC, and IEEE NesCom in that order. No change in scope. Purpose changed to include what the new revison will add. Remaining IP issues on two donations: VHPI-AMS (Cadence), PDE support (Tom Kazmierski). Copyright from 1076-2008 automatically transferred to 1076.1. No IP issue with the contribution from David Bishop to the Vector/Matrix operation project.

4. Project Status and Updates

4.1 VHPI-AMS (David Smith)

Ernst reported. Contact with Cadence to get material. Material seems to be related to traversing an elaborated model hierarchy and run-time interaction. There has been also a discussion on Vlach's paper about how far to go.

4.2 Genericity (John Willis)

No news from John.Topic could be included in "Other Mandatory Changes" project.

4.3 Other Mandatory Changes (Ernst Christen)

Work yet to be started. Need to define a notation to indicate things that moved.

4.4 1076.1.1 Integration (David Smith)

Ernst reported. 1076.1.1 currently defines subtypes (e.g., voltage, resistance) associated to SI units. Considering the support of dimension as a physical quantity and a unit. No real dimensional analysis, but kind of boundary conversion model between design entities using different unit systems. Similarities with mixed netlist project. VHDL's physical types not approriate. New physical type based on real type not appropriate either; would add more issues.

4.5 Mixed Netlists (Ernst Christen)

No progress, except some work related to the support of dimensions.

4.6 Frequency Domain Modeling (Ernst Christen)

See slides.

4.7 PDE Support (John Willis)

See slides.

4.8 Table-Driven Modeling (Joachim Haase)

Requirements are currently being defined from existing solutions in IBIS, Verilog-AMS, and Modelica. Plan is to have the requirement document finalized by the next meeting in August. Then it will be submitted to the WG for approval.

4.9 Vector/Matrix Operations (Zhichao Deng)

First meeting on July 19. Goal is to collect requirements, use model, what is available. Previous work from David Bishop for VHDL 1076 is considered.

4.10 Uniform Use of SPICE Models (John Willis)

No news from John.

5. Next steps and next meetings

See slides.

6. AOB

None.

7. Adjourn

Ernst adjourned the meeting at 9:00am PDT.
