in System Verilog, you can pass data around with
'handles' (pointers) to class objects  Semaphores
and Mailboxes are the abstract data types that
can be used for communicating when threads are 
complete/done. 

Collection can be done in a 'scoreboard' 

You'd probably want to mimic the fork/join
any, all, none concepts of SV

It's not clear to me that VHDL should be extended
in encompass all of this.
