All,
While we have been operating under P&P that were drawn up at the beginning of the VHDL-200x revision effort, the DASC has since done an exemplary job of formally documenting and adopting DASC and DASC-SC policies and procedures. Among the DASC P&P is the requirement that each WG also formally adopt its own P&P. As we have recently completed:
- Formally documenting the 1076 WG roster
- Elections for WG chair, vice chair and secretary
We need to complete the operational formalization process by adopting WG P&P. I would like to start the discussion of WG P&P by referring everyone to the DASC's model WG P&P: http://www.dasc.org/procedures/DASC-WG-model-procedures-adopted.pdf <http://www.dasc.org/procedures/DASC-WG-model-procedures-adopted.pdf> .
The DASC model WG P&P are relatively complete and encourage participation and accurate documentation of and conduct of WG business. As the DASC has already approved the model WG P&P, if we choose to adopt them as the 1076 WG P&P, no further review and approval by DASC-SC is required.
Therefore, please review the model WG P&P. If you have questions, please post them to this list (vhdl-200x@eda.org) as others are likely to benefit from the Q&A. If you have suggestions on how the model WG P&P should/must be modified to better serve our needs, then also share those thoughts. While it is convenient to use the model WG P&P, we should not let that stop us from considering improvements.
Depending on how the discussion goes over the next 2 weeks, I will either add discussion of the WG P&P to the DAC meeting agenda or schedule a vote on adopting the model WG P&P (as is or with any changes we agree on).
