Gate-level performance addresses the technical side of this issue.

I think there are also business sides to this issue.
In these economic times, can silicon vendors really afford
to support two sign-off quality gate level libraries?
Can users who need gate-level speed afford to pay for
a Verilog simulation license when they only need to simulate
VHDL gates?

Where is the balance? I don't know.

Cheers,
Jim
