What Instruction Set Architectures (ISAs) are to be supported? Offhand, Intel x89 and IBM PowerPC come to mind as commonly used in platforms used to support VHDL simulators; there are likely a few others. Knowing the ISAs to be supported, one can answer many questions of practicality.
