Sameer,

Some years ago, I was personally interested in the issue of VHPI-AMS.
At that time I organized, and became chair of, the VHPI-AMS Subcommittee
of the IEEE 1076.1 Working Group. At that time, some interest was expressed
by people from several EDA companies.

However, the work ground to a halt after a while due to several factors:

- VHPI, on which VHPI-AMS was to be based, was not yet standardized.
- Lack of interest in this issue by the major EDA vendors.
- My personal inability to devote volunteer time to the effort
  (The work was sponsored by CANDE in the first year).

I have been interested in developing the standard for many years;
your question has spurred me to consider whether it is time to revive
this effort. The need may be acute enough now to spark a renewed interest.

I have just reposted the subcommittee website at http://www.lynguent.com/vhpi-ams.
It reflects the state of the work as of 2003.

I invite you and everyone else who is reading this to visit the site, think
about the objectives and need for VHPI-AMS, and voice your opinion as to
whether we as an industry should make it happen. Unless someone can point
me to a more appropriate forum to ask this question, I would like to see the
discussion here.
