Yes, I did see it and my first thought was not a polite one  :-)   But 
upon reading the article, they refer to the upcoming revision of 
1364-2005. The IP protection scheme proposed for 1364 and 1076 and, 
apparently, Synplicity have a common heritage.  In fact, the 1076 
proposal is a proper subset of the 1364 proposal.  (1076 chose to subset 
it to create strong security protocols.)

So, I think Synplicity is actually in the same ballpark and one might
consider them to be an early adopter of the proposed standards.  It 
would be a good question for them to address.

I wonder how this fits into the picture.  I would
hate to see competing standards because it will turn
everything into tool dependent, and non-interchangeable
again...
