Dear 1076.1 Working Group members, The vote on Issue Requests and the draft 1076.1-2006 LRM has been closed on May 31, 2006, with the following results. WG members in the roster: 38 (of which 11 are DASC members for 2006) Have voted: 10 (of which 10 are DASC members) See the attached pdf file Draft_LRM06_wg_review.pdf for the vote details. The vote passed as it required the majority of the voting membership. A number of comments have been issued. They are listed with the responses from the LRM editor in the second attached file Draft_LRM06_wg_review_responses.txt. The draft LRM will then be updated to include the changes requested by the vote comments. The next step is to proceed to the IEEE ballot. A formal invitation to join the balloting group will be sent soon. The invitation will be open for 30 days. Information on how to participate to the ballot may be found in http://www.vhdl.org/vhdl-ams/wwwpages_new/how_to_participate.html#IEEE_ballot. Best regards, Alain Vachoux P1076.1 Chair IEEE P1076.1 WG vote on IRs and draft 1076.1-2006 LRM June 1, 2006 Response to Review comments =========================== -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Barby o IR1.99.08: I would S'SLEW(MAX_RISING_SLOPE,MAX_FALLING_SLOPE) rather than S'SLEW(RISING_SLOPE,FALLING_SLOPE) as it is a slew rate which limits the maximum slope not the slope. Yes since it is a signal, there is little difference numerically, but "max" communicates better what 'SLEW does. ### Response: The description of S'SLEW in 14.1 uses the names RISING_SLOPE and FALLING_SLOPE for the parameters. In the case of a signal prefix, the parameters specify the actual rising and falling slopes, respectively. The reviewer may be confusing this case with the case of a quantity prefix for the 'SLEW attribute, where the parameters do indeed specify maximum rising and falling slopes. No change to the LRM is required. o Draft LRM: page 7 (21 of 324) 1.1.1.2 Ports point b) the text in black "For a formal port of mode out, the associated actual must be a port of mode, out, inout, or buffer" should be in green as the brown text replaces it ### Response: The reviewer is correct. This will be changed in the LRM. page 51 (65 of 324) IR1.99.05 refers to 3.5.1 but in the actual LRM it is 3.6.1 ### Response: The reference in IR1.99.05 is to the subclause in IEEE 1076.1-1999. Since approval of that standard, IEEE 1076 has inserted a new subclause 3.5, Protected types, displacing the subclause on Natures to 3.6. The changes specified in the IR have been implemented in the correct place in the draft LRM. page 52 (66 of 324) RI1.99.08 refers to 3.5.2.1 but in the actual LRM it is 3.6.2.1 ### Response: See previous response. page 53 (67 of 324) RI1.99.08 refers to 3.5.2.2 but in the actual LRM it is 3.6.2.2 ### Response: See previous response. page 65 (79 of 324) footnote 18 I think has a spelling error in the name ### Response: The reviewer is correct. The spelling will be corrected in the LRM. The LRM editor apologies to Ernst. page 69 (83 of 324) the bullets associated with footnotes 25 and 26 could be mergred. That is, the bullet in grean should be in black with 'RAMP and 'SLEW inserted in brown in the correct spots similar to what was done for modes in and inout. ### Response: While that would ultimately be done in the published document, it would not indicate the incremental change made in this document from 1076.1-1999. Moreover, there is an interaction in this text with a change in progress in another committee revising P1076. The LRM will not be changed at this stage. Conditional tagging will be revised during editing for publication when the document is approved by the SASB. page 123 (137 of 324) the paragraph just above NOTES (associated with footnote 6) has "subnatore" when it looks like it should be "subnature". ### Response: The reviewer is correct. This will be changed in the LRM. page 128 (142 of 324) second to last paragraph Once you remove the green text and flow the black text with the brown text, there is a problem. The words "at the latest," should be in green not black. ### Response: This text is not changed from IEEE 1076.1-1999. The corresponding text in that document is: The suspended process will resume, at the latest, at the greater of: ... No change to the LRM is required. page 161 (175 of 324) in 10.1 if point "b)" is deleted, points "c)" through "p)" need to be relabelled ### Response: The labelling is done automatically by the formatting software. The labels and all cross references will be adjusted when the entry marked for deletion is deleted or hidden. This will occur when the document is prepared for final publication. No change to the LRM is required at this stage. page 258 (272 of 324) lines 6,12,15 change 'Dot to 'DOT in four places to agree the convention elsewhere in the document. Someone needs to do a global search on 'Dot. ### Response: The convention is that predefined names and attributes appear in uppercase in normative text, but appear variously in uppercase, lowercase or mixed case in examples. In the example in question, other attributes also appear in mixed case. No change to the LRM is required. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Mirmak o Draft LRM: Annex E mentions that the VASG is the appropriate body for comments regarding VHDL. Should the VHDL-AMS Working Group also be listed as a resource specifically for VHDL-AMS? ### Response: The reviewer's comment is adopted. The following sentence will be appended to the last paragraph in Annex E: To comment on features of VHDL-AMS, please visit http://vhdl.org/vhdl-ams/. During a casual reading of the VHDL-AMS LRM draft, I noted that several misuses of capitalization are present in the subtitle headings in chapter 2. For instance, section 2.1.1.2 lists "Signal parameter" instead of "Signal parameter." Sections 2.1.1.3 and 2.3.2 have the same issue. Is there an erroneous style rule being enforced? ### Response: The IEEE Standards Style Manual specifies that the first word of titles be capitalized. Subsequent words in titles are not capitalized. No change to the LRM is required. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark Zwolinski o Draft LRM: The first sentence of Chapter 15 is poor English: "The material in this clause is related to material in Clause 8 and Clause 9; it is included here due to avoid perturbing the numbering scheme of the VHDL 1076 LRM." "due" should be deleted. ### Response: The reviewer is correct. This will be changed in the LRM.
