[vhdl-200x] Re: September 8 meeting & officer elections ....

Hi David,
Sorry to you and anyone who missed today's meeting. To be
fair to me, the meeting minutes page clearly lists the next meeting
date - I just added the meeting time to it. It was an oversight not to
send out a meeting notice/reminder. This is the type of oversight
that happens when one person is filling in the role of chair, vice-chair,
and secretary.

I note that we are currently accepting nominations for these positions and
only one person (myself) has volunteered to fill any role (chair). All of these
roles are non-technical and any committed volunteer can fill them.

I have seen a number of regulars such as yourself, Martin Thompson,
Jarek Kachzynski, Chris Higgs, Peter Flake, Hans Tiggler, David Bishop,
and John Shields (however he is returning officer and is ineligible to run).
Any of you would be welcome to fill in some role.

I think it would be best to keep the meeting dates every two weeks. Since I
travel, it will be difficult for me to chair all of the meetings, so I will need some
form of help. You will note that I asked John Shields to chair the September
22 meeting that will discuss conditional compilation.

So I will close with, who is willing to nominate/volunteer to take a more
active role either as an officer or as a meeting host/leader?

Best Regards,
Jim

Subject: September 8 meeting

Jim,

You realize the minutes from the August 25 meeting stating the date for the proposed September 8th meeting was never confirmed?

Having previously sat waiting to see if someone would show up in teleconference for a proposed meeting e.g. April 21, proposed March 31 (as in the minutes), actually held April 28, and noticed on April 22 (http://www.eda-twiki.org/vhdl-200x/hm/1344.html) as having been rescheduled, the lack of certainty can be an imposition when in the recent past no meeting has been held with out a reminder first being issued.

In the current instance I had last checked for confirmation around 8 hours prior to the proposed meeting. While not advocating slavish adherence to rules and procedures a little consistency might help.
