Re: Encryption Group meeting suspended until further notice

Thank you for responding. I am already aware of this status, and
the work underway to organize the SystemVerilog Working Group. The
re-assignment of the 1364 PAR dissolved the working group which
authorized me to meet. And as I have pointed out a long time ago,
this has the effect of suspending all technical work related to
1364, until such time as the new management decides to re-authorize
this work and designates a leader for that effort.

The deliberative thorough process has its benefits, but also prolongs
the suspension of activity. Given the schedule you noted, I would
observe that it is also reasonable to expect that election of chairs
for any approved groups would not be completed earlier than November.
That is a 3-4 month interruption in standards consensus building,
for no other purpose than to formulate an organizational structure.

Raising the recognition of this side-effect was the purpose of
copying the ieee1800 alias in my previous e-mail.

1364 was disbanded due, in part, to loudly proclaimed views that
it could not respond sufficiently quickly to the needs of the EDA
industry. We need to be diligent in promptly moving through the
mechanics of organization so that this criticism is not also levied
against the SystemVerilog Working Group.

Please take this as a urgent plea to designate at least an interim
organization structure which can authorize continuation of technical
discussion. Accomplishing this at the next meeting would help to
minimize the loss of momentum.
