Hi John,

Thanks for the response. I can see that it is possible to execute a time
consuming task, but is it practical? Can you think of an example where a
user would want to do it? It seems like it is a capability that could
lead to undesired side effects if not used carefully. I suppose it is no
different than delays in action blocks, though I'm not sure when you
would use that either.

Yes, you can have a time consuming task as sequence match item.

When the sequence matches, the task is scheduled to begin execution
in the reactive region of that timestep, and the assertion has nothing
else to do with the task execution.  The processing of match items
continues and the assertion does not wait on the task.
