I'm old, speak English and German, and have never heard most of most of these Latin phrases. More importantly, SV is meant to be an international standard. Despite the many weaknesses of the English langauge, the standard should avoid non-English phrases, colloquialisms, and idioms. Personally, I think even "i.e." and "e.g." should be spelled out in simple English, but the IEEE does allow those. That said, it has been enlightening to see these new phrases in this e-mail thread. I hope my feeble old brain can remember them long enough to spring on my wife over a casual dinner conversation :) Stu ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stuart Sutherland Sutherland HDL, Inc. stuart@sutherland-hdl.com 503-692-0898 > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-sv-ac@server.eda.org > [mailto:owner-sv-ac@server.eda.org] On Behalf Of Jonathan Bromley > Sent: Monday, September 24, 2007 7:48 AM > To: Seligman, Erik; john.havlicek@freescale.com; > sv-ac@server.eda-stds.org > Cc: Bresticker, Shalom > Subject: RE: [sv-ac] survey > > > > I also think you should rephrase.
