This will be ready for vote with MK's final update (last update was on 2007-06-02). - 1768: All match semantics [LP] - Argument subcommittee proposal reviews . 1549 (TT, JL) - 1599: API and VPI changes for 0805 [BT] - 1668: Local var initializers [JH] - 1728: Let [EC], motion. - Other items Notes: ------ - Reminder of IEEE patent policy. - E-mail ballots on 1648, 1674 both passed. - Draft3/3a review activities. . LP has completed her reviews. Opened mantis 1855. . TT has completed his reviews. . JH to ask BT if his review of 36.42-36.48 (VPI Objects) is complete. . JH still needs to check that all draft 3 review stuff went to Stu. - Items waiting for calls for e-mail vote: . 1682: Future value functions [EC] * JH: Depends fundamentally on 1681. We need to pass 1681 first. . 1731: Sampled value functions with arbitrary clocks [EC] * JH: This is ready to vote. - 1681: Global clocking [DK] . DB was a primary reviewer . DK summarized 1681. . TT: Is an assertion that does not reference global clocking is not affected? DK: No. . TT: Simulation team probably won't use it. . DK: Not exactly. Specialist may use it, also useful for stability conditions between other clock events. . TT, DK, JH, EC, SD: Discussion on global clock standing as default where no default is specified. Decide to get rid of this feature and require writing default as global clocking instead. . DB: Motivation from formal verification is not so clear, there may be mismatches with simulation . DK: Formal tools do need the global clock, why not make it a part of the language? There are many mismatches between simulation and formal semantics. The global clock is needed for the constructs in 1682. . DK: Concurrent assertions do not catch glitches. . DB: Could this be specified to the tool? . JL: If the local clock cannot be aligned with the global clock, then the user has to re-define the system clock. . EC: You don't have to use the global clocking if you don't need it. . DB will think of an example to illustrate how bad use of global clock with a "good" design can lead to mismatches between formal and simulation semantics. . EC: We could get rid of the explicit relation between the global clock and the finest granularity of time. . DK: This compromise seems acceptable. . DK will revise the proposal. He can decide either to keep or to delete the requirement about aligning all clocking events in an assertion that references global clocking. No one objected to this requirement. - 1361: Control exec of action blocks [MK] . This will be ready for vote with MK's final update (last update was on 2007-06-02). . MK was not present, 1361 remains in the same state. - 1768: All match semantics [LP] . EC reviewed. . BT will review. - Argument subcommittee proposal reviews . 1549 (TT, JL) . JH still needs to look at the illustrative examples. . TT already sent comments. . JL is still looking. Will send comments in a few days. . Formal semantics. * DB: question about $var for untyped arguments. It is not clear when the type of a compound expression is well-defined. * EC: can we use the "type" function for this? * BT: We should avoid disturbing the meaning of the context or untyped arguments. * JH: It seems like a good compromise to get rid of $var on the untyped or context arguments. It would be nice to have some illustrative examples to show what operators are and are not allowed on untyped formal arguments. - 1599: API and VPI changes for 0805 [BT] . JH should give feedback and/or call for a vote. . Another mantis item 1898 was opened. - 1668: Local var initializers [JH] . JH made no progress. - 1728: Let [EC], motion. . EC revised 1728 to reduce the scope to use with assertions. . TT, LP will review. . JH: There was some correspondence with Gord about his concerns about the assumption of an elaboration algorithm. - Other items . Possible items to add to our active region: * 1757 (accept_on, reject_on) * 1900 (checkers) * JH: If people have other suggestions, send mail. - EC: Need to add mantis item for ## identifier.
