Dear IEEE 1076.1 Working Group Member,

According to IEEE DASC Procedures
(http://dasc.org/procedures/procedures.html), working group officers
shall serve two year terms. As the current 1076.1 WG officers have been
elected in 2005, it is now time to proceed to a new election round. The
open officer positions are the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

I appointed Peter Ashended as the Returning Officer for conducting the
election. Before Peter officially starts the process, I would like to
raise important points. In any case, the DASC Procedures (link above)
and the 1076.1 Procedures
(http://www.eda-stds.org/vhdl-ams/wwwpages_new/documents/1076.1-WG-procedures-approved.pdf)
give the details. Note that the 1076.1 Procedures do not mention the
Treasurer as we did not have one at the time the document was approved.
This will be fixed by the new WG officers.

The process will start with a call for nominations phase of 4 weeks.
Please use this time to update your DASC membership for 2007 (if
necessary) and 2008. You need to be a DASC member to be a voting member
of the working group. Currently, the number of voting members is quite
low and I would like to have an election process with a significant
number of voters.

I recall you that being only registered with an email address in the
mailing list makes you an observer with no voting rights. Voting
members, in addition to be DASC members, shall be registered in the WG
Roster with name, address, business affiliation, phone & fax numbers,
email address, and IEEE membership number. See the web site
(http://www.eda-stds.org/vhdl-ams/) for more details.

I finally encourage you to have an active participation in the election
process and then in the development of new 1076.1 language features and
packages that are under discussion.

Thanks and best regards,

Alain Vachoux
IEEE 1076.1 WG Chair
