Personally, I don't like the inconsistency of spelling one out and abbreviating the other. I prefer to do it the same way even if it is a lot more characters.

BTW, I still consider myself a VHDL coder (designer is too strong) and I do not like extra typing where there is no value to it. I also happen to be a decent typist (40+ words a minute); better than most VHDL coders.
