I though first about this. Then I though of putting all of the
numeric_std and numeric_bit read and write routines into this
package. Then I realized I was creating a dependancy between
numeric_bit, numeric_std, and std_logic_textio.
The problem with building up packages like this is you get into a
dependancy nightmare. In order to use the fixed point package you
would need the following:
use std.textio.all;
library ieee;
use ieee.std_logic_1164.all;
use ieee.std_logic_textio.all;
use ieee.numeric_std.all;
use ieee.numeric_std_textio.all;
use ieee.fixed_pkg.all;
use ieee.fixed_pkg_textio.all;
Which for me is a bit much. Lets limit it to:
library ieee;
use ieee.std_logic_1164.all;
use ieee.numeric_std.all;
use ieee.fixed_pkg.all;
I can live with having to add:
use std.textio.all;
use ieee.std_logic_textio.all;
If I want to write something out.
