P1800 technical committee chairs,
We have been seeing mantis items getting resolved as duplicates or as
"no change required" for which a proposal is attached to the mantis. There are
also several mantis items in the approved state with several different versions
of proposals attached to them.
These situations can cause confusion in the Champion's review or with
the Editor. When a mantis item reaches the resolved state that is a signal to
the Champions that it is ready for their review.
In order to correct the problems listed above, mantis items won't go to the
Champions for review under the following conditions. I will start placing
mantis items into the feedback state if they fall into these categories.
- the resolution is "duplicate", "no change required" or "won't fix" and
there is a proposal attached to the mantis.
- the resolution is "fixed" and there are multiple versions of
the proposal.
Sometimes the same proposal is shown in different formats. That is not a
problem.
For mantis items already in the Approved state, the old proposals will need
to be deleted. This will simplify the Editor's task and reduce the risk of
errors. I plan to start deleting these "old" proposals on February 28th. If
you prefer to do this cleanup on your own please complete it before then.
