P1800 Champions
The P1800 Champions exist to ensure that all changes within the SystemVerilog LRMs are in alignment across the technical committees. They are individuals who have volunteered to facilitate communication and co-ordination across the committees. They are typically individuals who attend or follow the meetings of multiple committees. They are responsible for:
1) Identifying issues that can have an impact across multiple
committees
2) Pro-actively communicating to all committees about the
potential impact
3) Driving a single solution that aligns the work in all of
the committees
4) Endorsing Technical Committee approved changes to the P1800 Working Group
In addition to achieving this work through attendance in committees, the Champions will also meet for 2 hours once a month to review the approved changes and future changes being considered in each of the committees. The review of approved changes is to offer advice to the P1800 on the alignment of given changes across the LRM before ratification by the P1800. The Champions may choose to not endorse an issue for any of the following reasons:
1) The editor wont have enough information to make the
change
2) Unresolved cross committee issues exist with a change
3) A change is outside the PARs for
the groups
4) Two proposals are inconsistent
The monthly meeting is also intended to allow the Champions to have an overview of the issues being considered in all committees, and to be able to respond early in the errata resolution process to any issues that may have impact across committees. If it is appropriate, the Champions may also discuss and propose solutions for issues that cross committee boundaries. Any ratification of changes must be made by the technical committees.
