Hi I have made slight changes to the minutes that I posted earlier and added the "Pending action items" at the end of minutes. Thanks Logie. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Unapproved minutes of the SV-XC Committee Meeting Date: Wednesday, Oct 17, 2007 Time: 08:00am - 10:00 am PST Attendees ------------------------------------------------ 110000000000000011 009876554433221122 100221311020202120 735253068417074006 000000000000000000 777777777777777766 ------------------------------------------------ pp--p-pppp--pppp-p Somdipta Roy (TI) pppppppppppppppppp Logie Ramachandran (Synopsys) --p--p-pp-ppp-pppp Ulli Holtmann (Synopsys) ------p-pp-pp-pppp Tapan Halder (Synopsys) p-p-pp---pp--ppppp Bob Shur (Cadence) -------------pp--p Rob Slater (Freescale) p-pppp---ppppppppp Arnab Saha (Mentor) ppp-pp-pp-pppp-p-p John Shields (Mentor) -p-p-pp---pppppppp Amit Kohli (Cadence) p-ppppppppppp-pppp Kathy McKinley(Cadence) ----------------pp Scott Cranston(Cadence) -------p-p-ppp-p-p Kevin Camaron(Sonics) -----------------p Michael Williams (Cadence) -----------------p Sudip Chakrabarti (Synopsys) ----------------p- John Stickley (Mentor) -pppp-ppp--p-pppp- NS Subramanian (Cadence) --------p------p-- Geoffrey Coram (Analog Devices) p-pp--p-p---ppp--- Nitin Khurana (Cadence) p-p-pp-p-pppppp--- Micheal Rohleder (Freescale) -----------p-pp--- Don Ticarich(Sonics) -----------p------ Thanapoom Lertpanyavit(Intel) -p-pppp----------- Rudra Mukherjee (Mentor) -----pp----------- Hassan Shahab (Intel) -pppp------------- Gaurav Kumar Verma (Mentor) p----------------- Jonathan David (Scintera) Agenda + Review IEEE patent policy http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-slideset.ppt (Vote) Bob moves it has been read. Kathy seconds. No objections. No abstains. Motion passes + Binding Proposals John will work up with a full proposal for mixed language binding SV-XC later this year. Kathy mentioned that she will not have enough resources to work on a large proposal. + Momentum/Technical participation Committee discussed the lack of momentum in the group compared to other sv committees. There have been very limited technical contributions so far. Committee revisited the end user interest in SV-XC. Somdipta mentioned that he was interested in SV and Mixed Signal interaction originally. Now he sees growing interest in the digital side w.r.t language interactions. There is also a desire to use SV testbench to interact with AMS or VHDL or SystemC blocks/modules. Do we need more collaborative website (like wiki)? It was not clear if this would help improve technical discussions. Committee felt that splitting into language based subgroups will not help increase technical contributions. Committee discussed the fact that we will not be able to meet the deadline for the next LRM and whether we should be tied to the SystemVerilog LRM schedule. Another concern from Kathy is that the SV LRM may not be the best vehicle to deliver the standards since it touches multiple languages. Kathy will initiate discussions on the reflector (a) about technical participation (b) other options for delivery of the standard. We will meet in two weeks to discuss possible improvements in the committee operations. + Frequency of meeting Kathy raised the question whether there is sufficient momentum to continue biweekly meetings. + Adjournment motion John moves that we adjourn, Kathy seconds + Pending Action Items (from previous meetings) (A/I John) will come up with requirements for opaque connections Status: John has Posted on the reflector. http://www.eda-stds.org/sv-xc/hm/0142.html Pending approval by committee (A/I Kathy) will come up with requirements for object kind compatibility (wires/variables/signals) requirements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - + Additional information: 1.
