Dear P1800 Working Group,
At today's meeting, Chair Pieper asked me to remind Designated
Representatives that our Policies and Procedures require supermajority
approval to send the draft standard to our Sponsor for IEEE Standards
Sponsor ballot. (You can find the P&P's at
https://mentor.ieee.org/1800/dcn/11/1800-11-0002-00-POLC-p-ps-clean.doc
if you don't have a reference copy handy.)
Since the vote on this action will be in the next meeting, as for all
meetings, quorum will need to be established. There is no special
quorum rule for meetings with supermajority agenda items, so a simple
majority of those eligible to vote must be at the meeting. When it
comes time to take the vote, 75% of the votes must be to approve.
During the Sponsor Ballot phase, an even higher threshold will be set
and this is the familiar 75% of 75% rule where 75% of those who are a
member of the ballot pool must vote and of those votes more than 75%
approve.
I look forward to participate with you in the next meeting.
Regards,
Dennis
