Cliff,

Unfortunately, the organization is not structured to consider this
proposal. Backend recovery of front-end costs is something they are
moving slowly away from. If this keeps on its natural path, standards
could become free. (Some already are, like the 802 standards.) I see
that a more likely outcome in the years ahead versus using backend fees
to pay for future work.

But, I still think your point is well taken!

Hi, Dennis -

Looking at the disparity in pricing, I would make the argument that the
1800-2005 Standard should also cost $110 where the extra $65 per copy be
placed into an IEEE P1800 escrow account for use to help pay for future
versions of the 1800 standard.

Thoughts?

Regards - Cliff
