Hi All,
Personally, I don't feel we are in an elections campaign where
candidates must justify why they were nominated. I would think it makes
more sense that if someone nominated a person, then it is up to him/her
(totally optional) to explain why.
Therefore, speaking for myself, I have no intent to explain why I was
nominated for a chair position. Those who chose to nominate me can
explain it if they wish.
Now, I want to take my appointed chair hat off, to "justify" the
following nominations:
- Dennis for Secretary: very knowledgeable of IEEE bylaws; extremely
dependable; very active member taking action items upon himself; has
been doing outstanding job in capturing the meeting minutes and
facilitating logistics. I think he's an ideal work group secretary for
any chair to wish to work with. The fact that no group member has
nominated anyone else for a secretary position speaks for itself.
- Shrenik for vice chair: He's a known authority in his field and impact
on design & verification methodologies; He's been a very active
Accellera vice chair; he represents a large user community; I was
impressed of his vision and approach of resolving issues of divergence
and he is unbiased.
- Oz and Victor (my justification here applies to both): very active
members; always willing to drive and take actions upon themselves - as
demonstrated during their negotiation of the IEEE funded services; very
experienced with standards committees; they both have a cloud of
influence in the EDA.
Overall, I think this work group is "blessed" for having these talents
as nominees. Most important, I believe all of the above people have
sincere intents to "do the right thing right"
--- Johny.

Cliff, Eugene and all,
There is no requirement nor prohibition on candidates making position
statements in the officer election. If candidates wish to do so, I
leave it
to their discretion.
