Hi All,

In the last P1800 WG F2F meeting, the alignment between future work of
1364 BTF and PTF was discussed. I suggested that P1800 members need to
better understand work details in the BTF and PTF committees in order to
decide on the proper alignment structure.

I got the action item to form a small task force to address this. The
objectives and outcome which I would expect from this group are:

* Report a status update to P1800 members on the work which was
is being done in the BTF and PTF; its criticality and original plans

* Identify areas of technical conflicts or inconsistencies w/
SystemVerilog and propose potential options

* Identify areas of convergence w/ SystemVerilog

* Identify areas that are being worked in BTF and PTF and are
not part of SystemVerilog. Propose options and possible next steps for
inclusion

Please keep in mind that P1800 WG goal for the short term (a one year
time frame) is to quickly cleanup and standardize SystemVerilog. The
alignment and possible action plans will be taken into account for the
next phase. I believe we should identify the convergence and divergence
areas soon in order to define a proper structure and action plan for the
alignment of 1364 and P1800 (w/ the long term goal of one LRM standard).

Victor Berman, Cadence DR in P1800 WG, was elected to chair this task
force. The following people were identified to be members of the task
force:

Cliff Cummings

Alec Stanculescu

Karen Pieper

Stephen Sharp

Charles Dawson

Dave Rich (pending time commitment)

Shalom Bresticker

The criteria were to include the chairs/co-chairs of 1364 committees as
well as key people from the user community. Victor will report out
status and plans in our next WG meeting in Frankfurt (on 9/14).

If required, P1800 WG members will have the chance to clarify and
comment on the task force objectives which I listed above.

Lastly, I would like to emphasize that ratification and final decisions
will be made in the P1800 WG. I am confident Victor Berman will inspire
leadership in managing this important task force.

Thanks,

--- Johny.
