I've entered Mantis 3724 for the generic interconnect and uploaded a
first cut proposal.
There are no examples in the text yet; I would like to have some feedback
regarding the basic approach I took in the proposal before spending
time on examples associated with the rules. Besides, examples are
non-normative, right? (yeah, right)
