Yes, this is another Mantis that talks about the same issue. So, we have at least 3 Mantis items which seem to overlap - 3036, 2476, 1559. Out of these, Dmitry has already put a first cut proposal for 3036 (and possibly working on the discussed solution in the last meeting). We need to synchronize... let's discuss this in out next meeting.

Tapan-I think Shalom's comment on 2476 means that we should include this issue there, and probably close 1559 as a duplicate. Dmitry, can we discuss at the next meeting?

(BTW-my understanding from reading the recent minutes is that there is general agreement that bit-stream types is the right solution for the argument question. Somebody tell me if you disagree, otherwise I will incorporate this into a new draft of 2476.)

Should it be bit-stream data type, as suggested by Dave Rich in a note?

Annex P / Page 1239 defines:

bit-stream data type: Any data type whose values can be represented as a serial stream of bits. To qualify
as a bit-stream data type, each and every bit of the values shall be individually addressable. In other words, a
bit-stream data type can be any data type except for a handle, chandle, real, shortreal, or event.

Which seems to include many data-types that we need to consider e.g. string, dynamic arrays etc. What would be importance and usefulness of such types?

Also, there is another related question (In a note by Brad Pierce): Can the usage of streaming operator be allowed?
