Ed,
The example on page 225 shows:
sequence rep_v;
int x;
?true,x = 0 ##0
(!a [* 0:$] ##1 a, x = x+data)[*4] ##1 b ##1 c && (data_out == x);
endsequence

The "?true,x = 0" is missing the parentheses. Thus, the The examples do
NOT conform
to the requirement for the assignment to loval variables.

   Hi,

It seems to me that perhaps the sentence is not too clear about where
the parentheses should be. If I look at version P1800 Draft 6, the
syntax is:

sequence_expr ::=
...
| ( expression_or_dist {, sequence_match_item } ) [ boolean_abbrev ]
| ( sequence_expr {, sequence_match_item} ) [ sequence_abbrev ]
...
sequence_match_item ::=
operator_assignment
| inc_or_dec_expression
| subroutine_call

There, sequence_expr does not require parentheses, but what is required
are the parentheses over the entire combination. The examples do conform
to that as far as I can tell.

Best regards,

ed
