I submitted a new Mantis 4022: Bad style assertion failure reporting in 16.14.2 Assume statement (http://www.eda-stds.org/mantis/view.php?id=4022).

I suggest using $error rather than $display in assertion fail actions. Not sure this is a high priority issue.
