Hi Ben,

I think it is about automatic or dynamic variables. I copied this sentence from 16.9.3 of the current LRM: "The initial value of any other variable or signal is the default value of the corresponding type" with replacement of "signal" with "net".

[Ben] In the 2nd bullet, you're addressing variables that are not "static", like the free variables and wires. But free variables can be initialized (e.g., rand logic r=0;); thus, it's default would be the value assigned in its declaration.
[Korchemny, Dmitry] Checker free variables are static. Why do you think they are not?
 [Ben2] When you talk about "of any other variable or net"
 What exactly are you referring to? Automatic variables?
