Hi All,
Mike Bartley has been nominated for the position of Vice-chair of the IEEE 1647 WG. Operating on the assumption that Mike accepts the nomination-- Mike, let me know if this is not the case-- I shall conduct the election via email for this position.
In the "IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) Baseline Operating Procedures for IEEE Standards Working Groups - Individual Method", it states (section 6.2) that 14 days is the minimum time for such an election. Hence, the election for P1647 Vice-Chair shall open at 10 AM PDT on September 3, 2010 and will close on September 17, 2010 at 10 AM PDT. Mike Bartley is the sole nominated candidate, but the IEEE Bylaws allows for write-in candidates. Hence, you may vote for Mike or for a write-in candidate. You may also cast an explicit vote to abstain.
A critical item is that ballots (emails containing votes or abstentions) must be received by me from a majority (50%+1) of eligible 1647 voters. If ballots are not received from a majority of eligible voters, either a new election will have to be held or someone will be appointed to the open position.
