A bit of trivia about our number '1647' - we are coming up on the 170th anniversary of the issuance of United States Patent Letters Patent No. 1647, which was issued June 20th, 1840.

The patent established the person to person communication business, and is the basis of our instant world-wide news business. It established the telephone business.

This patent established the intellectual property business in the United States, and from there to the world; as it was the first significant patent that was licensed to others for implementation.

It was also one of the first entrepenurial patents, as it was filed by a person whos training was to be a potrait painter, rather than an engineer or scientist.
