• For simple things, Standard vs Open Source
  • Standard
    • Vendor issues wrt what features a tool supports
    • May not be available to all
  • Open Source
    • May not be compiled on all tools.
    • Authors may not include it in their books
    • Easy to fix.
• Arbitrary length integers
  • Future: Run time dynamic sizing of integers - not a synthesis candidate
  • Current: Use UNIVERSAL_INTEGER as a base type and constrain it anywhere bit_vector needs a constraint
  • Should we make UNIVERSAL_INTEGER castable to bit_vector?
• Sequential Declarations
  • ADA uses keyword "declare" where the proposal uses the keyword "block"?
  • Should we be compatible with ADA here?
  • AI: David to look into keyword block vs. declare vs.
• Flag Metavalues detected by ??
  • Seems to be a no brainer to accept
• Fixed Point Algorithmic package
  • Open Source vs. Standard?
    • Ok as open source
    • Concern: will vendors support something that is open source?
• Open source group is looking for a champion for an open source VHDL RTL library
  • Administrator type person
• Date and Time System Calls
  • Needs to be in the standard
  • std.env seems reasonable
  • May be reasonable to have foundations in std.env and have other package that break it down.
  • AI: RobGaddi to help move the standard forward
